The White Japanese Orchid, also known as Bletilla striata ‘Alba’, is a striking flowering plant for pond edges. This plant combines beautiful flowers with practical benefits: it attracts beneficial insects, contributes to biodiversity, and adds color to the shoreline. With its compact growth habit and abundant blooms, it fits perfectly into any natural pond edge. This hyacinth orchid blooms from May to July with elegant white flowers and grows to about 50 cm tall. The plant thrives in moist, well-drained soil along the edge of a pond, but cannot tolerate standing water. Bletilla striata ‘Alba’ is hardy to -10 °C and can be protected with a layer of mulch during severe frosts. You can easily remove spent flowers to extend the blooming period. With its upright growth habit, this orchid creates a beautiful transition between water and dry land. Our Japanese orchids are sustainably Grown our own nursery, without the use of artificial methods. They are perennials, hardy down to -10 °C, and require little maintenance. For a balanced pond, we recommend 2 baskets, each containing 4 plants, per 1,000 liters of water—a total of 8 marsh plants. No matter what I tried, the water in my pond just wouldn't clear up. After exchanging a few emails, I decided to order this complete kit, though to be honest, I wasn't very confident it would work.
