Choosing Pond Liner: PVC or EPDM

Pond liner forms the foundation of your pond. Choosing the right one determines not only how easy it is to set up the pond, but also how long it will last. We supply both PVC pond liner and EPDM pond liner, each with its own specific application.

PVC pond liner

PVC pond liner is a flexible and affordable solution for small to medium-sized ponds. The material is thinner and lighter, making it easy to work with for simple shapes. PVC is a good choice if you’re building a pond with a limited expected lifespan or a tight budget.

PVC pond liner has a shorter lifespan than EPDM. Over time, the material can harden and become less flexible, especially when exposed to sunlight and temperature fluctuations.

EPDM pond liner

EPDM pond liner is made from high-quality synthetic rubber and is known for its exceptionally long lifespan. This material remains flexible for decades, does not tear, and is resistant to UV radiation, frost, and root growth.

EPDM is more expensive than PVC, but that difference is entirely due to its quality and durability. While PVC is mainly a temporary or budget solution, you should choose EPDM if you want a pond that will last for decades without any worries.

A major advantage of EPDM is that it much easier to work with in corners and shapes. It stretches more easily, folds naturally, and can be laid taut without tension. This makes EPDM ideal for organic ponds and more complex shapes.
