A pond pump simply circulates the water. It does not address the underlying causes of algae, sludge, or cloudy water. In many ponds, pumps actually do more harm than good because they constantly create turbulence, whereas a biological balance requires stability.
In a naturally designed pond, clear water is achieved through a combination of oxygenating plants, substrate, and bacteria. This approach is sustainable and requires no mechanical equipment.
