Growing method

Small plants with big results

Some customers are surprised when they receive our plants: “Is that all? So small?” But what you’re getting isn’t a show plant—it’s a robust, hardy plant with a bright future.

This is our story. It’s about 35 years of sustainable farming. It’s about strength in the roots, not in the leaves.

Why our plants don't look "pretty"

Our Aquatic plants Grown with the utmost care. We pay special attention to their development and growth, from root to plant. A quality check is also performed when your order is packaged. This ensures that the plants you purchase from us are in perfect health.

Small hardy plants

At a garden center, a plant has to look good right away. So it’s often grown quickly in large pots, using artificial light, heat, and sometimes pesticides. It looks great on the shelf, but it’s exhausted as soon as you put it in your pond.

Our approach is different. We grow small, compact, and completely natural plants. Instead of focusing on appearance, we invest in root strength. A small plug means a plant full of potential. The real growth begins in your pond—where it belongs.

Growing in stillness – strength at the core

Our plants grow in small plugs, without large pots. This keeps the roots firm, compact, and strong. When the plant is ready, we put it into dormancy. Depending on the species, we cool it for 30 to 90 days.

We do this on purpose:

  • It mimics nature
  • The plant becomes stronger and more hardy
  • It facilitates safe, sustainable shipping

Rest isn't a delay; it's preparation.

Packaged with care and protection

After the cooling period, the plants are packed dry—without water. Why? Because the plant is dormant and remains stable during transport.

You may find the following:

  • Brown or wilted leaves: leave them alone—they protect the plant
  • Broken leaves: no problem—the root is what matters most
  • Sphagnum moss: we sometimes use it to provide extra protection for tubers

Each package is designed to ensure that the plant arrives at your doorstep alive, safe, and undamaged.

  • Via DHL GoGreen (carbon-neutral)

Growth starts with patience

Our plants only come to life when the conditions are right: stable, warm, and sunny weather. That usually doesn’t happen until May or June.

Important to know:

  • Cold water? Then the plant will remain dormant
  • Heavy rain or cold weather? The plant stops growing (temporarily)
  • April: sometimes the first signs of growth. Full bloom: May/June
  • Real results? You'll see them after 365 days

A plant from a garden center looks beautiful on day one—but what’s left after a year? Our plants are designed to bloom for years to come.

We'll get to that later. First, the roots need to be firmly in place.
