Pond Specialist & Aquatic Plant Grower

Caltha is the first Caltha

A vigorous spring bloomer that adds early color to your pond and provides excellent filtration.

About this product

The Caltha, also known as Caltha palustris, is a hardy marsh plant that begins to bloom as early as early spring. When the rest of the pond is still dormant, the first yellow flowers are already in bloom. The plant not only adds color and life around the pond, but also helps keep the water clear. It draws nutrients from the pond water and does its job without any extra care.

What makes this product special

Caltha a native plant in the buttercup family and is slightly toxic, which makes it less likely to be eaten. It grows via roots in the soil and can also self-seed in the pond. The seedlings are easy to remove. The plant has sturdy stems, striking flowers, and returns every year. A practical spring bloomer that lasts for years and is instantly recognizable by its full yellow blooms.

Quality and origin

Our marsh marigolds are organically grown in our own nursery and are fully hardy. They grow naturally with the seasons and require little maintenance. For a well-balanced pond, we recommend 2 baskets, each containing 4 marsh plants, per 1,000 liters of water—a total of 8 marsh plants. This ensures healthy and robust shoreline vegetation that will thrive year after year.
