Mirjam's balcony pond in Utrecht
Every morning, I enjoy my coffee next to my little pond.

For over 40 years, I’ve been helping people create natural ponds. More and more often, I’d hear: “We’d love to have a pond, but we don’t have room for one.” That’s how the idea for the mini pond came about. However, nature follows the same rules even on a small scale. If the foundation isn’t right, the water loses its balance more quickly. That’s why you should choose a Complete Pond Package where everything is perfectly coordinated—this gives your mini pond exactly what it needs to stay clear, healthy, and stable.

Tips for Your Mini Pond
Make the most of your compact water feature

Choose small plants
Use the right types and quantities of plants to keep your mini pond clear and balanced. We recommend choosing a Complete Pond Kit for 25–90 L.

Be careful of sunlight
Mini ponds heat up quickly. Make sure they get 4–6 hours of sunlight a day, but avoid full sun all day long. A spot with morning sun is ideal for a balcony pond.

Easy maintenance
Top off the water regularly in the summer to account for evaporation, remove spent blooms from time to time, and add a BACTA TAB twice a year to keep the water clear all year round.

Winter Protection
Small amounts of water freeze quickly, but don't worry—all our Aquatic plants except for the lotus) are hardy and can withstand freezing.
